Final Score: NA

Unreviewable by one judge because of repeated link failures and vitalize not working. Entrant purchased grand prize and withdrew from the competition. Sorry Nastyman! :(

Comments:

OK!! What on earth???

The game is too loud and doesn't explain what you have to do.

Pressing enter at the title screen takes you to the level start screen instantly and then you are presented with a group of moving yellow blobs and a girl who can shoot balls.

There is a meter on the right hand side that starts climbing but with no particular purpose.

colliding with one of these yellow blobs takes you to a puzzle screen with no discernible purpose.

I didn't understand the point of the game so i couldn't rally rate the game too high in originality or gameplay

The sounds were too loud for the game but the graphics were hand drawn so for this the game scores pretty well in the relevant category.

COMMENTS: Elementas is a curious game, but it is certainly not Arcade-friendly. I had little clue what I was supposed to be doing, there were no instructions, and I didn't really enjoy it personally. That said, it is a rather unique game, with a curious merging of grid-based roleplaying and puzzling. The second time I played it, I started to get the gist of the block based gameplay; fire, water, grass... a bit like paper scissors rock I guess, with, for example, grass blocks disappearing if fire blocks are adjacent and clicked on. Had no idea what the heart blocks did. There really needs to be instructions, or an interactive tutorial even, if people are going to really accept this game.
